Osteopathy focuses on the musculoskeletal system and its importance in the health of the individual. Osteopaths apply the philosophy of treating the whole person to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of injuries and illness using manual and physical therapies.
Osteopathy treatment has a multi-modal focus with the 'hands on' approach being accompanied by exercise rehabilitation regimes, appropriate ergonomic and nutritional advice.
Osteopathy is suitable for treating people of all age groups. This includes newborn babies, children, teenagers, pregnant women, adults, the elderly, athletes, tradesmen and more.
A typical consultation includes taking of a comprehensive case history, a thorough examination, followed by hands-on treatment. All techniques aim to restore movement to areas of the body identified as being tight or restricted in movement. This enables the body to function at its optimal level which in turn allows healing to occur quickly.
As your practitioner will be carrying out manual therapy it is best if you wear comfortable loose clothing for your appointment. If you have films or reports from any type of imaging please bring these with you to your appointment.
You do not need a referral to see any of our practitioners. However if you do have a referral from your doctor please bring this with you for your initial visit.
